What's Happening Next?
The Town is preparing for the upgrade or replacement of an existing skate park located in the Town of Qualicum Beach. The existing park was constructed approximately 25 years ago and is at the end of its usable life. A community group has organized to advocate for a comprehensive upgrade or replacement of the park, and the Town is advancing this Feasibility Study to establish a scope and potential budget for the purpose of capital planning and future grant applications.
The proposed project will conduct a thorough feasibility analysis of the existing skate park and make final recommendations regarding the best approach to upgrading or replacing the park. In addition, the proposed project must meet the safety and standards for the latest skate park design principles for skateboarders, scooters, in-line skaters and BMX riders to develop their skills. The design of the project should draw and engage local users to the skate park and challenge both beginners and experienced users alike. >p>New Line Skateparks was chosen to undertake the task of developing the study and design at a cost of $15,500. The firm has an excellent reputation, and the Town is confident that the outcome will facilitate the project's progress.
