Garbage, Recycling, & Food Waste Pick-up

Garbage, Recycling, & Food Waste Pick-up

garbThrough the Regional District of Nanaimo, independent contractor Waste Connections of Canada, collects garbage, recycling and green bins for single family residences. The garbage and recycling that is collected is taken to the Church Rd. Transfer Station and compostable material is taken to the Duke Point composting facility.

COVID-19 Collection Changes

  • All garbage waste must be bagged and securely tied
  • DO NOT include paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, face masks, gloves, and disposable sanitary wipes in your recycling or food waste containers - these should be placed in the garbage.
  • If someone is sick in your household, double-bag and securely tie all personal waste.
Waste that does not adhere to the above guidelines will BE LEFT BEHIND, NO EXCEPTIONS

New Automated Collection
In October 2020 Qualicum Beach will transition to a new automated curbside collection service for all single-family dwelling units. Residents had the opportunity to chose the cart sizes that best suits their household’s disposal needs, If no selection was made the default size will be provided.
