COVID-19 Communications

Overview
In March 2019, the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 virus to be a worldwide pandemic (the consistent spread of a new disease around the world in a population that has not yet gained immunity). The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) and the BC Ministry of Health are closely monitoring the situation and will provide guidance, via Island Health to the Town.

The Town continues to implement the following safety protocols (as of March 2022):

  • Masks are optional for the public entering any Town facility
  • Council meetings & Public Hearings are held virtually and hybrid meetings are available, keeping in mind safety requirements and recommendations. Meetings will remain open to the public and, pursuant to Provincial legislation, are not subject to vaccine passport requirements being held electronically and available for viewing at Our Live Streaming page
  • All municipal facilities are being cleaned more frequently, especially doors and common areas.
  • Staff are following proper handwashing protocols and respiratory etiquette for coughing and sneezing.
  • Staff are being encouraged to stay home if they feel ill.
